Some odds and ends:

Neil Gaiman is on tour for his new book right now. He’s reading one chapter per stop, and each chapter is being videotaped and put online. Not the same as being there, but really a nice plan. I’m interested to watch people who make stuff work out ways to put it online and still pay the rent, and plan to write up some of my favorites (and least favorites) in a bit.

SF Novelists has an entry on writing quotes today. Not writing quotable bits, but bits others have said about writing. I have a collection stashed away, and I suspect that many others do too.

And finally, there’s a full-size siege engine for sale on ebay. Shipping might be a problem, as the contraption weighs 12 tons.

Oh yes! Needs some work, but capable of hurling large rocks.

I’m not sure it would fit in my yard, but it would definitely give me control of the neighborhood!

Welcome!

I’ve been doing stuff with string for quite some time, and describing it to others online since 1996 or so at Phiala’s String Page.

I also do some science and write some fiction.

I’m Phiala most places on the internet.
