I completely acknowledge that St Patrick’s Day is a fairly modern made-up holiday. And yet, I enjoy it. I’m wearing green, listening to Irish music, and will eventually get around to drinking Tully. I’m even of Irish ancestry, and year-round, not just today.

While walking to work this morning, I was entertained by a piper. At 8am. Accompanied by a couple early risers waiting for the bar to open. (Heavy-drinking college town.)

If you see this on the 17th and would care to join me for some Irish music, Paul and Lorraine are streaming their gig (until midnight CDT), courtesy of the nice folks at the Water Street Inn in Stillwater, MN. If you are ever in MN and need a place to stay, or eat, or visit the pub, they’re the ones.

Poppet, as always, is fascinated.

Not yet. Sometime in the next couple of weeks, I hope.

Welcome!

I’ve been doing stuff with string for quite some time, and describing it to others online since 1996 or so at Phiala’s String Page.

I also do some science and write some fiction.

I’m Phiala most places on the internet.
