New music

Nick and I went shopping on Saturday afternoon. It felt like we visited every retail establishment in town, though of course that’s impossible. You should see the awesome Viking mittens I got at TJ Maxx – leather with fur cuffs! Our first stop, though, was Goodwill, home of random things that can be made into other things. I was taking a quick look through the CDs when the word knitting caught my eye. What could it be? Kid’s songs? Knitting-related audio?

Nope.

It’s covers of Fiddler on the Roof. The only knitting connection is that it was released by Knitting Factory Records. But it’s interesting, and diverse, though all maintaining some of the feel of the original. Kots of klezmer, some jazz sax, and The Magnetic Fields. Odd, but easily worth the $2.

knitting on the roof sounds full of awesome!

Welcome!

I’ve been doing stuff with string for quite some time, and describing it to others online since 1996 or so at Phiala’s String Page.

I also do some science and write some fiction.

I’m Phiala most places on the internet.
