Stringpage Supplies is two this month. The web store didn’t go live until January, but the paperwork and the first tentative sales all happened in September 2007. I’m not entirely sure how that was two years ago, but the calendar doesn’t lie. It has been interesting, and entertaining, and bloody hard work sometimes. I think after two years of practice, I have a better handle on what works, both for my customers and for me. What was complained about, what I can’t sell for a reasonable price, what’s fun, what’s useful. And after two years, I have a hellacious list of things to do: inventory that’s not listed, entire categories of inventory even, changes to make to the shopping cart system, organizational tasks for the inventory that will make everything more efficient and allow me to fill orders faster… anyone who’d ever run a business will recognize the list.

All of these changes will benefit me and my customers, I hope, but all of the time available for running Stringpage is going into filling orders. That’s great, of course – I’m very grateful for all of your support. But I need to make these other changes, so Stringpage Supplies is taking a break. The store will be closed for a month – all of September – then will reopen new and improved with all kinds of cool things, as well as backend changes that you will never notice.

I will of course be answering email during the month, and if you need something urgently, I may be able to oblige. I don’t want anyone to feel neglected, after all.

We’ll be back on October 1, all ready to go!

I know it will definitely be time to buy more strings.

Welcome!

I’ve been doing stuff with string for quite some time, and describing it to others online since 1996 or so at Phiala’s String Page.

I also do some science and write some fiction.

I’m Phiala most places on the internet.
