Apparently I’ve been doing it wrong. Though of course I’m not a Princess, so maybe it’s just a rank thing?
You must go to the original site and look at the closeups. Her headgear is particularly nice.

I’ve been doing stuff with string for quite some time, and describing it to others online since 1996 or so at Phiala’s String Page.
I also do some science and write some fiction.
I’m Phiala most places on the internet.

Oh lord. Strappy heels and hornettes on the helmet. No smiting of enemies or she might break a nail.
And all that cream colored fabric – must be self-cleaning, too!
It’s so good to know what I should’ve been wearing in the SCA. The Celtic knotwork trim is particularly nice. Maybe you could step up the costume a notch by nalbinding the gauntlets? sigh!
That’s, um… well… um… certainly… impressive – that’s the word I want… (And I work in Halloween costume rental! I’m not easily floored…)
Thank you for sharing. Are you planning on reproducing the headgear, or do you suppose that would be presumptuous in one of your rank?
(Richard says he never thought he’d see a costume that made Xena look well researched. )
well, at least the low cut should cut down on the amount of purse space needed — well for the displayed model anyway.
