The York Archaeological Trust, publisher of many excellent resources on Anglo-Scandinavian and medieval finds, has very generously made part of their back catalog available for free download.

I’m very excited by this, as many of their books have been out of print for decades. I’m hoping that this is a trial program, and that if it is successful more will be made available. Especially the textiles volumes. I would happily pay for print copies, or PDF copies, or whatever, if only these could be obtained.

So go, download, buy some print books from their catalog, maybe even send them a thank-you letter. Let’s convince YAT that there’s interest in their materials and encourage them to make more available, whether free or for purchase.

Welcome!

I’ve been doing stuff with string for quite some time, and describing it to others online since 1996 or so at Phiala’s String Page.

I also do some science and write some fiction.

I’m Phiala most places on the internet.
