Pie. And local potatoes, and sweet potatoes, and squash. Chicken. Did I mention pie? Oh yes!

I spent a day and a half making curtains. Nick’s mom is getting warm quilted custom curtains for Christmas, but even though it isn’t cold yet (ridiculously warm, in fact, for Pennsylvania in November) I didn’t want to wait until Christmas to make them.

I couldn’t find what I wanted locally, so I ended up ordering the fabric online. As usually happens, it wasn’t quite what I wanted.

In some ways, though, it’s better than my original conception, and looks quite nice with the wood (and ducks).

I curtained two enormous walls of picture windows, and two doors, much to Barb’s delight. Apparently custom curtains are appreciated all out of proportion to their difficulty.

The dogs played in the woods (and ate chicken scraps), the people talked and played with the dogs and relaxed (and ate pie).

Lovely, really.

They were a big hit. Fortunately I learned how to sew at a young age, so I can do stuff like that. :)

Welcome!

I’ve been doing stuff with string for quite some time, and describing it to others online since 1996 or so at Phiala’s String Page.

I also do some science and write some fiction.

I’m Phiala most places on the internet.
