I’m not quite done – they still need mulched around the edges – but all three raised beds are in and filled and planted. Tomatoes, peppers, and lots of things from seed. Some of the seed was several years old; no idea what will actually come up.
By a conservative estimate, I moved a thousand pounds of soil and mulch in two days. Thirty pounds at a time. I did a fair bit of digging too. I’m not sore, a pleasing fact for which I give several years of daily yoga much credit. I’m thrilled that at 41 I can do things like install garden beds, a happy combination of coincidence, genetics and regular exercise.
I think I may have mentioned that it’s a good year for roses?
I’m sitting out in the courtyard, blogging and reading some fiber arts stuff in preparation for my class at Peters Valley. To which you’re coming, right? Nick is getting ready to grill. Not a bad way to spend the evening.

That’s a lot of work, and it looks wonderful. I hope good things grow, regardless of the age of the seeds.
